FAQs
What are your general policies?
My pricing is largely set and calculated based on the cost of living and raising a family in Vieques, Puerto Rico. I do, however, offer discounts for specific venues, coordinators and more. Our preferred venues in Puerto Rico include:
- Hacienda Siesta Allegre
- El Convento
- The Vanderbilt Hotel
- Villa Montana Beach Resort
I am able to offer these discounts because I know these properties so well, and I know that my job will simply be easier when working at them.
Let us know who your coordinator is when inquiring, and we’ll let you know if there is an available discount.
My policy for image return has recently been updated:
- All digital images are contracted to be returned within 14 days of the event–except film which is entirely dependent on the lab, which typically take 7-10 days as well as “shipping days”. I prefer to get things returned more quickly and will attempt to return the digitals within 24 hours–while the wedding is still fresh–but I also have two children, live in a remote area with power and internet outages, etc.
- Exceptions may be made for travel, etc.; in writing and agreed upon all parties.
- All images are returned digitally except film, which has optional gelatin prints and negatives. If you have chosen analog film as an option on your wedding day, the cost of prints and shipping will be billed in the week after the wedding–typically $3-4 per roll for prints and the cost of shipping for negatives. Please also note that this is a “warts and all” delivery, and may include outtakes, etc.
- Due to the ephemeral nature of film, there will be a waiver due to the very, very slight possibility of something happening to the negatives in transit. Negatives are shipped in the safest manner possible, but once they leave my hands… they are, unfortunately, out of my hands. They’ve never been lost or damaged before, but there is a very remote possibility.
Due to the nature of video, the process takes input from all parties before a complete product can be delivered.
Therefore all video products will receive the initial draft within twelve weeks. After the initial draft, feedback and confirmation of satisfaction on the artistic direction of the video work(s), the edits will proceed until finished–up to a couple weeks after confirmation.
A non-refundable retainer of 50% is held for booking of any photography or videography packages. This is an industry standard practice, and helps offset the opportunity costs if one of our clients cancels at the last moment.
The balance is due 30 days prior to the event(s). Additional details regarding cancellation, additional hours and more are available in the contract upon booking.
I generally try and hold onto RAW images and footage for as long as humanly possible. I have weddings on drives from when I first started shooting in 2006.
However; I only guarantee data storage for up to one year. Online galleries are available as long as our systems are in place, and I will email all of our clients should that change. If you worked with us prior to 2015, your images may still be available elsewhere and can be hosted on our newer proofing system upon request.
It is the responsibility of the client to download and store the JPEG images after delivery. Again, I will do my best, but the nature of hard-drives and the ever changing landscape of cloud storage only allows me to guarantee one year.
Who are you and what's your experience?
As I’m sure you’ve figured out, my name is Elliott Anderson. I have been a photographer since 2006, and a freelance wedding photographer off-and-on since 2007–when I assisted my first wedding in Portland, OR. Which just so happens to be where I grew up.
At the end of 2007, I began my first studio job at Holland Studios in Northwest Portland and worked as a photographer and editor for two years. I opted to finish my education and then worked for a photo post-production house until 2012, when my wife and I moved to Vieques, Puerto Rico.
I’ve since been a wedding photographer in Vieques, Puerto Rico ever since. It’s my full-time job and has been for over a decade. In that time, I have shot well over 700 weddings and countless other shoots from editorial and commercial content to Real-estate and more.
Other than photography, I love to travel and play in the outdoors. When I’m not working, I’m typically fly fishing, biking or paddling. Or, hopefully, exploring a remote region of the planet in search of epic photographs or hungry fish. I’m also a food geek, father to two little boys and husband to my wife… who is also a wedding coordinator here in Vieques. Check out her website here.

What sort of Equipment do you use, film, etc.?
The longer I shoot, the more I realize that equipment only matters to a point. I’ve shot with most brands from Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Sony and even Olympus. Each system offers it’s own benefits, but most modern cameras are all capable of creating extraordinary images in the right hands.
I currently shoot on all Canon RF equipment, using the latest technologies and highest quality L-series lenses. This allows me to capture images at up to 50 megapixels and shoot RAW video footage at up to 8K resolution. All my computing equipment is from Apple. Having lived in a remote pocket of the Caribbean for 12 years, I am basically a camera tech and keep my gear meticulously maintained and cleaned for longevity.
My film equipment is constantly shifting and evolving. I like old Contax film bodies, Kodak and Fujifilm film stocks and I have a couple old scanners I use when I develop my own film.
